Name Every Country in the Americas
The globe lights up one country at a time and you tap the correct name. 35 nations across North, Central and South America. Free, browser-based.
Play nowA blue patch of ocean, a thin spine of mountains, and suddenly the highlight lands on a slim country between Costa Rica and Colombia — that one is Panama, but most players hesitate. The Americas hold thirty-five sovereign states, from Canada in the Arctic to Chile reaching toward Antarctica, with a dense ribbon of Caribbean islands in between. This quiz highlights one country on the 3D globe and offers you a short shuffled list to choose from. Big names like Brazil, Argentina, and the United States arrive early. The harder rounds bring in Suriname, Guyana, and the smaller Caribbean states like Saint Kitts and Nevis or Grenada, which most travellers never visit but which sit clearly on the map once you look.

Tips to play better
Split the continent in three
North America has just three countries, Central America has seven, South America has twelve. The Caribbean adds thirteen sovereign island states. Holding those numbers in mind makes the geography feel finite.
Use the Andes as a ruler
Top to bottom: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina. That single mountain chain runs through six countries in order, which gives you an instant reading of South America's western edge.
The three Guianas
Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana sit side by side on the northern coast of South America. French Guiana is not on the list (it is part of France), but Guyana and Suriname trip up almost everyone the first time.
Caribbean clusters
The Greater Antilles hold the big islands (Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola). The Lesser Antilles run in an arc from Antigua down to Trinidad. Treat each arc as a single mental shelf and the names start to stick.
Frequently asked questions
Are the United States and Canada always in the early rounds?
They appear early because their shapes are very recognisable, but the round order varies. The randomiser ensures you do not face the same sequence twice, even on consecutive plays.
Why is French Guiana not in the list?
French Guiana is an overseas region of France, not a sovereign state. The quiz only includes UN member states and a few widely recognised independents, which keeps the count at thirty-five for the Americas.
Do I need to know the small Caribbean nations?
Yes. Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, Grenada, Barbados — all six appear in the rotation. They are small but they count, and getting them right is part of finishing the region cleanly.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. The interface is built around taps, and the shortlist is sized for thumb reach. The 3D globe rotates with a single finger and the highlighted country is large enough to read on a five-inch screen.
