Say Asian Country Names Aloud
From the Levant to the Pacific Rim, around fifty states share dozens of writing systems and languages. Speak the name, the browser checks the match.
Play nowAsia is the only continent where dozens of writing systems and language families share a single landmass. The same region holds Arabic in Saudi Arabia, Hebrew in Israel, Persian in Iran, Hindi and Tamil across India, Mandarin in China, Korean in both Koreas, Japanese in Japan, Thai in Thailand, and Bahasa across Indonesia and Malaysia. In this mode you do not write any of that down, you say it. The globe highlights one country at a time and the browser listens. You will travel from the Caucasus (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan) through the Stans, down into the Gulf, across South Asia and out to the Philippines, Brunei and East Timor. Around fifty answers in total.

Tips to play better
Burma and Myanmar are both fine
The country adopted Myanmar as its official name in 1989, but Burma is still in common English use. Both forms are accepted by the engine. The same flexibility applies to East Timor and Timor-Leste, which refer to the same Southeast Asian state.
Sort the five Stans
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan is the giant and the only one bordering Russia. Uzbekistan is doubly landlocked (its neighbours are also landlocked), a rare distinction shared only with Liechtenstein. Saying the five in a single breath helps anchor them.
The Gulf is six small countries
Saudi Arabia plus the GCC five: Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Oman. The first four are tiny on the map and easy to miss when the globe zooms in. Yemen sits below Saudi Arabia at the corner of the peninsula and is its own answer.
Taiwan, Cyprus, Palestine
These three have contested status but appear in the quiz as separate answers because they have a distinct flag, capital and territory shown on the globe. Pronounce them as you would in everyday English; no special diplomatic phrasing is required.
Frequently asked questions
Is Russia in Asia or Europe in this quiz?
Russia spans both continents but the quiz classifies it as European because Moscow and most of its population sit west of the Urals. It is not in the Asia rotation, but it appears once in the world rotation. The capital remains Moscow regardless of grouping.
How do I pronounce Kyrgyzstan for the recogniser?
KIR-gih-stan with a soft g works reliably across Chrome, Edge and Safari. The cluster of consonants at the start trips the engine if you rush it. A short pause before the word and clear vowels usually unlock the match on the first try.
Are city-states like Singapore and Bahrain treated normally?
Yes. Singapore, Bahrain, Brunei, Maldives and the Vatican (Europe) are sovereign states and count as full answers. The globe still highlights their territory; for very small ones the camera zooms in so you can see what is selected before you speak.
Does the engine accept native-language names?
On the English site it expects English forms. Japan, not Nihon. China, not Zhongguo. Korea, North Korea or DPRK and South Korea or Republic of Korea all map to the right answers. Stick with the English form for fastest recognition.
